XP is the short form taken from the word eXPerience. Window XP is the first consumer oriented operating system and successor of Windows 2000 and Windows Me. Most common edition of operating system were Window XP home edition which was targeted for home users and for general purpose.
Window Update is the service provided by Microsoft to update Microsoft Window operating system and its component. There are different updates like security updates, critical updates which protect against malware and viruses. Updates are normally provided over an Internet connection, although there is provision for updates to be installed on computers without an Internet connection.
Windows Vista contains many features and updates including graphical user interface, visual style, search function, multimedia tool including Window DVD maker, networking, audio quality, print and display sub system. It was released in January 2007. Microsoft's primary stated objective with Windows Vista was to improve the state of security in the Windows operating system. While these new features and security improvements have garnered positive reviews, Vista has also been the target of much criticism and negative press.
Windows 7 was released in 2009 and it was the successor of windows vista. Unlike Windows Vista, which introduced a large number of new features, Windows 7 was intended to be a more focused, incremental upgrade to the Windows line, with the goal of being compatible with applications and hardware with which Windows Vista was already compatible. Some of the new features included in Windows 7 are advancements in touch, speech, and handwriting recognition, support for virtual hard disks are there, support for additional file formats are there, improved performance on multi-core processors, improved boot performance resulting in fast turn on, and kernels improvements.
Window 8 is next coming version of operating system by Microsoft. Main feature that was shown is the extensively redesigned user interface, optimized for touch as well as use with mice and keyboards. The Start menu is replaced by the new "Start screen", which includes live application tiles. The user can return to the regular desktop by choosing the "Desktop" application, and go back to the start screen by using the start button. The new interface is primarily designed for 16:9 screen resolution, with 1366×768 and larger screens able to display two Windows 8 applications using "Snap". 1024×768 screens can display one Windows 8 application in full-screen, and 1024×600 screens can only use the traditional Windows desktop. Windows 8 will use OEM Activation 3.0 instead of Windows 7 OEM Activation 2.1, which will make it less prone to cracks.
